Meet Our Assistant!
Hi everyone! For this month's blog post I’m taking over the blog to share with you all my story with Salon Tel Aviv. My names Charlie, I'm 22 years old, and I’m the salons receptionist, social media manager, assistant, and basically everything but the hairdresser.
Two years ago on my 20th birthday, I stumbled across Salon Tel Aviv while looking for a new hairdresser. While looking through all the amazing reviews about my now boss, Shimi Angel, I was more than enticed to meet this interesting man.
When I came in for my appointment, Shimi and I had so much fun talking about hair, life, and advice. He made me want to work harder as an individual, seeing his drive and how he carried himself inspired me. I couldn’t believe this salon was sitting right under my nose in the center of town.
At the time, during the height of the pandemic, I removed myself from University and was working as a lifeguard and swim instructor. Shimi inspired me to work harder, and for an entire year from that point on I woke up everyday at 4:30 in the morning to open up a pool. That job taught me a lot of self discipline and gave me a better work ethic.
A year later after telling my family about Shimi, my aunt Lori came to see him and he told her that he’d love to work with me! I came in a week later and told him I’m definitely interested. The next day I put in my two weeks at my other job. I was nervous but excited for what the future had in store.

When I started at the salon I was more than excited. Everyday at the salon is a different show and pushes me a little bit more out of my comfort zone.
After a couple of months of working in the salon, I decided that I wanted to go to cosmetology school. Following in my bosses footsteps, I started to attend Paul Mitchell the School in Rhode Island.
Now being a couple months into school, I’m more than happy and thankful with all the opportunities I’ve been given and I can’t wait to graduate and be a full time stylist at the salon.
Being in the salon during the day and school at night definitely has me exhausted. But it’s the best feeling in the world getting home at 11 and reflecting on all the accomplishments I had that day and knowing I get to achieve more the next day.
Unlike others my age, I took an untraditional path, in hopes my hard work will pay off. Working in this salon has given me more drive and confidence than any university could have ever given me, and I’m more than happy with my journey.
Yours Truly,
Charlie Geller
